Philip Yadanza from UPGC (the Salt Lake Club) notified me about an hour ago that, as of then, there was a 200 acre and growing wildfire located right below I-70 in "Claim Alley" as I like to call it (many clubs w/ a Utah presence or connection have claims along that stretch).
At present, the Forest Service is blocking access to the claims. Regardless of anyone's personal feelings regarding government policies & actions (and trust me, I have many), this is a safety issue and as far as I understand, they're doing the right thing atm. Safety first has always been a club principle, and that's about tossing dirt into water - so wildfire is so much more so.
I will do what I can to keep everyone informed, and if you have any reliable* information, please feel free to share it with the club. More information is always better than less. It's possible that this may have access implications, even if the claims themselves remain untouched. My guess is, it would be similar to the issues regarding the Idaho claims 5-ish? years ago.
In the meantime, I would suggest you steer clear of anywhere the is, or could be, a fire hazard. Might I suggest something from our Idaho collection? We have some lovely claims there that may be more to your liking. Here at NUPA, sirs and madams, your wellbeing is our prominent concern, and our concierge** service will be happy to assist you in any of your prospecting needs.
Heavy pans,
Dave
*By reliable, I mean reliable - first or second hand knowledge, citing your source, etc. Sharing that your second cousin twice removed on your mother's side saw Oppenheimer with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.28, and then saw a raging fire right outside the theater, well, that might be better saved for around the campfire one night.
**I'm unaware about anyone actually being a concierge for NUPA atm, so if you know of one, please share with the group!
Wildfire alert: Peekaboo and Millcreek NUPA 3 claims
