7:00 P.M. Christmas Dinner
The Christmas Dinner this evening starts at 7:00 P.M. I received word this morning that there had been some messaging about it starting at 6:00. Please disregard the earlier time, as setup will still be going on and the food won't be ready. Also, you may/will need to ring the doorbell when you arrive. The door is kept closed for security purposes, just say the magic words, "Hi, I'm with NUPA!", and wahhhlahhhh :) , they should open the door. Heavy pans, Dave

PS - the Christmas gift exchange
I'm sorry, I forgot to mention - as in years past, we're planning on doing a gift exchange. Here's how it goes: Bring a wrapped gift valued around $20. This is a general guideline*. All gifts are put together on a table. As contributor's names are drawn from a hat, individuals can select either: -- any wrapped unpicked gift on the table, or -- any unwrapped gift someone else picked, but hasn't yet been traded three times. Once a gift has changed hands 3 times, it is perman

Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday
Hi all, As members of NUPA, you are welcome to attend any meeting of the NUPA Board of Directors. Usually, this meeting is held at the Eagle's Lodge, one hour before the start of our regular monthly club meeting. There's no requirement for you to do so, you're more than welcome to come if you'd like. The Board has a few items of business we need to take care of prior to our next meeting on September 27. Normally we'd be okay, but due to the timing of summer events, we haven't

Wildfire alert - Sevier County (Peekaboo and Millcreek NUPA 3 claims)
Philip Yadanza from UPGC (the Salt Lake Club) notified me about an hour ago that, as of then, there was a 200 acre and growing wildfire located right below I-70 in "Claim Alley" as I like to call it (many clubs w/ a Utah presence or connection have claims along that stretch). At present, the Forest Service is blocking access to the claims. Regardless of anyone's personal feelings regarding government policies & actions (and trust me, I have many), this is a safety issue and a

NUPA 5 in Idaho this weekend!
Hi all, This weekend (July 20-22), our club outing will be to NUPA 5 in Idaho. If you're going to be doing anything in the river, make sure you have the river usage permit AND the water use permit (that one's new this year). I 'm not sure what the conditions are like up there, it might be a Daytona 500 race track (not likely), or it may be worse than Utah's pothole parade (also not likely). Be careful of trees that might be ready to topple, new river conditions from this yea

What file is this?!?
It was posted first on the Facebook group, and now here, in case They get to the group and delete it. Download this PDF quickly, memorize it's contents, and save it in a secure location. Don't let them know you have it! Or, it's the May newsletter. I don't remember which, I've been involved with both this morning. Read it and find out for yourself, I guess. Heavy pans, Dave

2023 calendar of events
Hi all, B/c of the weather, we had to cancel our February meeting where we normally would've had a chat about the year's events. Last week the Board addressed this and approved the use of the same general template as last year. Some of the outings are off by a weekend or so, that may be b/c of scheduling changes around holidays or anticipation about water levels. The current listing is as follows: April Crescent Creek, April 28-30 May Osceola, May 26-28 June Millc

February meeting is cancelled
I thought we'd be snowed in, but instead, the cold is trying to kill us all off. Given the frigid temperatures, the still icy road conditions in some areas, and the threat that ice poses to many members of the group, the February meeting of NUPA is cancelled. Please pass the word if you know of someone who should find out. I apologize for the late notice, I've held off as long as I could, hoping things would work out. We'll see everyone in March!
